Job SummaryThe Director Cardiac Critical Care Services supports
the Cardiovascular ICU (8 beds) and the Cardiovascular Stepdown
Unit. (8 beds). The CVICU provides care to fresh post-surgical open
hearts, valves, cardiovascular patients with devices to include but
not limited to: impellas, intraortic balloon pumps, Swan-Ganz
lines, and others. In addition, this patient population includes
post-surgical vascular patients. The CV Stepdown Unit is near the
CVICU and cares for open heart patients following extubation (less
than 24 hours) and other patients to include critically ill STEMI
cases and others.This Director reports to the Chief Nursing
Officer. The Director is accountable for high quality, safe and
appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and
appropriate resource management related to patient care.This leader
will assume responsibility for assisting in assessing, planning,
coordinating, implementing and evaluating nursing practice on each
unit. The Director will supervise and evaluate work activities of
all nursing personnel and provide clinical leadership and set
strategic and long-term goals for the nursing staff. The Director
will assess performance objectives for each nursing unit and
organize, coordinate, develop and review policies, procedures and
nursing protocols to meet all regulatory, compliance and quality
care standards.The Director is responsible for the quality of care,
operational and financial efficiency (budgeting) of the nursing
unit. The Director will lead and professionally develop the nursing
staff within the unit, providing performance goals, feedback, and
development opportunities. In addition, the Director will is
responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of personnel and
will chair committees as assigned. Provide direct care as needed.
-Role assumes 24/7 responsibility of Director's assigned areas.
Responsibilities:--- Active and current Registered Nurse license in
the state of North Carolina.--- Highly effective interpersonal and
communication skills.--- Proven leadership ability and hospital
operational ability.--- Ability to serve as role model and advocate
for the professional discipline of nursing. -Essential
FunctionsDevelops and implements departmental goals, plans, and
standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and
ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Directs and
evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery,
information technologies, service level determination, and
complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control
objectives. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including
hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing
education initiatives. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates
departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in
compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs
internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that
encourages professional growth. Integrates evidence-based practices

degree in nursing required; Master's degree in nursing preferred.
-Licenses/CertificationsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive
judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a fast paced, stressful environment and take
appropriate action.BLS requiredACLS requiredCurrent RN license to
practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
-Minimum Work ExperienceMinimum 5 years RN experience, CVICU
experience required; Minimum 2 years management experience
