Experience Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and is not
allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on
unit could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR. The unit operates
with a nurse-patient ratio of 4:1. The average daily census is 24.
The unit provides 24-hour nursing observation, monitoring, and
intervention to patients with medical/surgical, cardiac, renal,
bariatric surgery, pulmonary, and trauma-related disease processes.
Candidates should be comfortable floating to other units as needed.
Weekend work is required every other weekend. Patients are
predominantly adults aged 18-65 years and geriatric individuals
aged 65 years and over. The primary focus of the unit is on heart
failure and post-procedural patients. Patients may require cardiac
telemetry monitoring. Common patient diagnoses include acutely
decompensated heart failure, new onset heart failure, and patients
pre and/or post cardiac interventional procedures. The care
provided may include continuous ECG monitoring, administration of
medications including weaning off intravenous vasoactive drugs, and
provision of emotional support to patients and families. Wound care
and safety management are also essential components of patient
care. The unit utilizes electronic health records systems for
documentation and communication.
