cardiac surgery patients with devices ECMO, Impella, IABP Ability
to present on patients once per shift at designated times
Description: This position involves providing critical care to
patients in a cardiothoracic intensive care unit. The unit consists
of 14 beds with an average daily census of 11 patients. Patient
types primarily include those undergoing cardiac surgery, ECMO,
organ heart transplants, and various advanced cardiac devices.
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)
are available for support. The department includes a receptionist
on weekdays and charge nurses who are usually available as needed.
Additional support from respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and
intensivists is available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is not
provided on the unit. The electronic medical record system in use
is Epic. Required skills include proficiency with IV pumps and
other essential monitoring equipment. Teamwork and proactive care
are emphasized in the unit culture. Travelers are expected to work
on weekends and holidays as part of the schedule. This is a
