An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Operating Room (OR) expertise to provide high-level perioperative nursing care in a busy surgical environment. This contract role is based in Salisbury, NC, with an esteemed healthcare setting known for its comprehensive surgical specialties and high patient volume. Key Responsibilities: - Circulate during surgical procedures including trauma, orthopedic trauma, total joints, spine, cardiac, vascular, gynecology, gynecologic oncology, robotics, general surgery, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), bariatrics, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, and plastic surgery. - Provide charge nurse leadership during night shifts, demonstrating proficiency in both scrubbing and circulating functions. - Participate in laparoscopic and open abdominal surgeries, managing complex cases with flexibility and critical thinking. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, adapting readily to emergent surgical needs and case changes. - Engage in periodic weekend rotations, call shifts with a rapid response expectation, and share responsibility for holiday coverage. Qualifications and Desired Experience: - Current NC RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred. - Minimum of 5 years of OR nursing experience is mandatory. - Previous charge nurse experience and proficiency in both scrubbing and circulating roles during complex cases. - Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) credential preferred but not mandatory. - Strong ability to manage multiple surgical specialties with precision and professionalism. - Must be self-motivated, flexible, and a strong team collaborator. - First-time travel nurses will not be considered; this role requires experienced travelers willing to maintain a permanent address at least 50 miles from the assignment location. Work Schedule and Environment: - Various shifts including 7a-7p, 9a-9p, 11a-11p, with a weekend rotation every fourth weekend. - Call shifts averaging six per six-week cycle, requiring a 45-minute response time. - Holiday shifts constitute approximately 75% coverage. - Department offers a supportive OR culture with clinical supervisors, charge nurses, educators, and technical support.
