Pay: $1,678 to $1,764 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: 4/4/2026 About the Position JOB DESCRIPTION RN - MedSurg/Tele About Facility: Winston-Salem, NC 27157 885 licensed beds Level 1 Trauma Designation Teaching Hospital: Yes, Academic Medical Center Chest Pain Center Stroke Center Unit Information: 9RT Beds: 25 Census? Average patients/day? 21 Minimum Years of Experience required: 1 year of experience Will you accept a first-time traveler? Will consider dependent on experience Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Multi trauma, TBI, open fractures, various back surgeries, small bowel obstruction Transverse process fractures needing stabilization Rib fractures (no open chest); pneumothoraxes, ER Gen (EGS) surgery – small bowel, all Abd surgeries, some Tele (centralized monitoring) Patient Ratios: RN: 1:5-6, acuity dependent CNA: 1:8-10 Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills required: PCA, Chest tubes, trachs, surgical drains – JP drains, NGT, wound care/wound vacs Ketamine drips, Heparin, cardiac drips – set rate possible Support within the Department: CNA: Supports the RN by obtaining VS and blood glucose checks; assists with hourly safety rounds and ADLs. Unit Secretary, dayshift (8h); nights (12h) Charge nurse: Charge Nurse is a free floating for the majority. On occasion, will have a full assignment Phlebotomy? Yes, peripheral blood draws IV/VAT Team? No, we start our own IVs – IV start experts on this unit (USGIV RNs) RT 24/7? Yes, available – will need to page for assistance when needed Hospitalist 24/7 Intensivist 24/7 Trauma Service/Residents are available 24/7 Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes, remotely. The telemetry techs are centrally located and call the unit when necessary. Technology/Equipment: EMR: Epic IV Pump: Alaris Med dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: No monitors in the rooms. Unit specific equipment: External fixators, chest tubes, PCAs, trachs, complex wound care Orientation (facility and unit): NEO 2 days departmental Other notes: Scrub Color: Royal Blue Parking: Free?
