Job Description:

HCA Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Nurse Extern to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) on a PRN (as-needed) basis. This role provides a unique opportunity for nursing students to gain practical experience by assisting our professional nursing staff in delivering exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The Nurse Extern will have the chance to work directly with patients, providing comfort and support, while learning critical skills in a fast-paced environment. Assisting nursing staff with basic patient care and monitoring Helping with the preparation of the recovery room and equipment Observing and documenting patient responses to anesthesia and interventions Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members Maintaining compliance with safety and privacy regulations Basic understanding of patient care procedures Strong observational and communication skills Ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of basic health and safety standards Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire Active status as a nursing student in an accredited nursing school
