BLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with fresh open heart
post-op patients Transplant experience Experience with Aquadex
(renal replacement therapy), Impella, ECMO EPIC experience Ability
to float to PICU discussed during interview Description: This
position involves providing care for very high acuity pediatric
patients ages 0-18 years old. The patient population includes those
with congenital heart differences, post-surgery, and those
requiring medical management for pre-transplant and
post-transplant. Candidates will care for patients
post-catheterization, those with ventricular assist devices, ECMO,
Impella, dialysis, and Aquadex. Patient ratios will vary based on
acuity, ranging from 1:1 to 2:1. There will be one health care tech
per day to support unit secretary duties and nursing support needs
throughout the shift. Unit staff will include a unit secretary and
a charge nurse who will float as needed. Phlebotomy services are
available in-house, although most patients will have central lines.
The department is supported by a respiratory therapist,
cardiologists, and intensivists available 24/7. Telemetry
monitoring is centralized and at the bedside. Candidates must be
willing to float to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics as needed.
Weekend rotation is required, with the expectation of working every
other weekend or fewer as needed. There is a call requirement based
on previous dates, and travelers will be expected to work 75% of
holidays. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, and
