Planner opening with an energy and utility client operating out of
Asheville, NC. Potential contract extension or direct-hire
conversion is dependent upon performance, budget, and business
needs.

Pay: $47 to $53/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant
supplemental package available for enrollment.
Schedule: 4x10 work schedule (4 days per week, 10-hour shifts)
Travel Requirement: Frequent travel to field sites (up to 300 miles
per week); occasional overnight travel required
Description:
We are seeking an Utility Planner to support our Transmission field
personnel in executing construction and maintenance activities for
substation assets. This role is responsible for preparing
comprehensive work packages, ensuring alignment with maintenance
history, resource efficiencies, and compliance with regulatory
requirements. The Planner will collaborate with various internal
teams to effectively plan, estimate, and allocate resources for
construction and maintenance projects.
This position requires candidates to have strong field experience
with substation, line, and relay knowledge to develop accurate work
plans. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational
and communication skills, as well as the ability to work
effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage work packages, including scope of work, labor
estimates, resource needs, and special requirements.
Ensure materials, permits, and specialized equipment are secured in
advance.
Provide detailed construction estimates for project durations and
required manpower.
Coordinate and schedule work with construction teams, project
managers, and key stakeholders to optimize resource efficiency.
Monitor project progress, identify potential obstacles, and adjust
schedules as needed.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Assist in emergency planning and storm restoration efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree with 5 years of relevant work experience OR
High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of relevant work
experience
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work
experience
Working knowledge of work management systems such as Passport, MS
Project, MAXIMO, SLATE, TITUS, ITOA, P6, Adobe, and MS Office
Suite
Strong understanding of substation, line maintenance, apparatus,
and relaying practices
Effective communication and leadership skills with experience in
presenting to teams
Ability to work efficiently in high-paced environments with
evolving priorities
Work Conditions and Travel:
Must have a reliable means of transportation for daily travel (up
to 300 miles per week); mileage reimbursed for travel beyond the
assigned office.
Occasional overnight travel for meetings and fieldwork (expenses
reimbursed).
Expected to be onsite/in the field 3-4 days per week.
May be required to support storm restoration efforts.
